What You Need to Know
Description:
Wanted to produce enough to cover my consumption. Wanted to alleviate pressure on the grid and requirement for electric company to produce that energy.
My Motivation:
Wanted to produce enough to cover my consumption. Wanted to alleviate pressure on the grid and requirement for electric company to produce that energy.
Advice:
DO NOT USE NRG! Know what your actual consumption is by month and year. Verify the system is able to produce the desired amount of power. Lastly, DO NOT TRUST NRG.
Experience with Installer:
NRG was very slow to get the installation set and their communication was very poor to say the least. I constantly was contacting them to find out information which did not come very easily. Then all of a sudden I was told that within a few days the installers were coming. I had to change all of my plans to ensure that I was home for the installation. The morning of the scheduled 8 am arrival time I get a call at 9;30 am telling me that they would not be coming that day due to potential rain. The rain forecast was at less than 10% chance for the day . I was told that the crew would be there the following day. Again I had to make changes to my schedule at the last moment. After the installation, I recieved paperwork to sign about the system. Upon reviewing this paperwork I noticed that the energy that I was estimated to produced was only about 66% of my usage. When I call NRG about this then the excuses started coming. They tried to blame me and then Energy Sage but the bottom line is that they wanted about 35 - 40% more in funding to add the necessary number of panels to reach my usage. This is because now it was a change order which costs more than the installation. Being a retired and 100% disabled servicemember living on a fixed income the cost was too much so I argued. After much argument and them reducing the amount only moderately I finally just gave up arguing and agreed. Now I am waiting on them again to tell me when the final panels will be installed.
