North Coast Solar

I actually will likely not be going solar, and these guys helped me get to an informed decision rather than simply try to sell me a system. They'll get more business than their competitors because of this. I know who I would refer anyone to after a simple 20 min conversation with them. Thanks for being straight-shooters North Coast!

We received quotes from three installers, two obtained from EnergySage, and chose North Coast Solar for a variety of reasons. We just flipped the switch starting up our system today. I have nothing but praise for North Coast. Chris our rep was very helpful and responsive which is one of the reasons why we chose North Coast. They were extremely efficient in going through the extensive process getting the system approved with our power company and got the array and electrical components installed a couple weeks ahead of the estimated completion date. The installers were very nice and despite a couple unexpected challenges got the system installed in less than a day. Eric the owner what very helpful and kept on top of getting the local inspection and final approval as well as keeping me informed of the progress. I did some research and they use good quality equipment and I have been very please with the Enphase software that that works with the Enphase inverters and allows you to monitor the system. If you are looking for an installer in Mid Michigan I highly recommend North Coast Solar

Somehow I had heard about North Coast Solar and had a chance to meet and speak with Drew here at our home. Wanting to make sure I at least had two opinions, I also asked Climax Solar to stop by and give me their opinion. Drew from North Coast was very pleasant, and not pushy, and just presented options to me. I believe he offered three different plans. I liked the idea of the largest plan the most. I knew what he proposed that cost to be. We were blessed enough to have that in the bank. Then two representatives, one in training, from Climax Solar came to our home. NO MONEY DOWN! WHY WOULD YOU NOT JUMP ON THIS? JUST $600 A MONTH FOR 25 YEARS! And I said, “But that’s $180,000! What’s the cost if we just pay cash?” $124,168.67. Seriously, $49,000+ more than my full cash payment to North Coast Solar for the same thing. And the installation people were really courteous and respectful, they weren’t the foul-mouthed types we’ve encountered before at times with other home projects. Questions were answered informatively, and because we chose to have it installed in our side yard, I was able to watch “close up.” The building inspector and electrical inspector who came by afterwards to approve the project both had high praise for the quality of the work, one of them going so far as to praise the symmetry of the mounting of the boxes under the panels. The approval to “flip the switch” came a little slowly from Consumer’s Energy, but that had nothing to do with North Coast. Expect more like two weeks after it’s all done and then you can be happier when it’s faster. If it is. There is a really cool app that you get when it’s all done, and you can see how the installation is making energy. Ours is a 20 kW system. I can’t add photos here, but on these less than perfect last two days, here is the result: “ Energy Produced Updated 2 mins ago 96.6 kWh November 14, 2023 97.5 kWh November 13. 20” We are delighted.

Now that I have your attention… I had been shopping for a Solar solution, and had priced out everything from DIY, private installers, and even having good old cousin Clem come piece meal me something together. That said, North Coast’s low pressure sales (Thanks again, Chris!), coupled with the quality of materials and even the ease of installation, and direct availability and support made this a great decision. North Coast Solar made everything from Conceptual design (both physically, and fiscally), to installation, and even making minor adjustments to the software the system uses painless. Actually, to be Frank, it’s a pleasure to utilize. Sure, your buddy’s cousin may be able to “do it cheaper”. But between the very readily available assistance, the warranties, and the help with getting all the required forms together for tax season, I think the cost is more than justified, and well within reasonable.

Dylan - the salesperson was very knowledgeable and did not take much too much time going over stuff when it became apparent that I had done my research and even had a couple of other quotes. Even showed the pricing for ground mount and explained why battery storage is not recommended at this time. Eric - from the office was very helpful with making sure I knew the next steps at each stage. The installation crew was great - 8 or so people came on the day of the install for our roof mounted 4kW system around 8am and were done by 1pm at the latest. System was just turned on a few days ago, but it has been producing so far at a rate far greater than what we have historically used.

I haven't had the system long enough to give it a fair review or describe any benefits, yet. But what I can say is the customer service has been excellent. Any questions I have are immediately addressed with curtesy and a quick response. I've had nothing but a good experience with this company.
